furniture pads?

i am moving and have booked u haul truck. the booking lady told me that i will need furniture pads so i ordered 2 dozens of them. now i am not sure they are to cover the furniture before i wrap them or they are put under sofas or used to level the boxes and furniture so that they are not displaced while driving.
